The Dramatists Guild Fund  aids and nurtures writers for the theater; funds non-profit theaters producing contemporary American works; and heightens awareness, appreciation, and support of theater across the country.

For nearly fifty years, the Dramatists Guild Fund has supported the work of the Dramatists Guild of America. Since 1999, DGF has funded the Guild’s successful Fellows Program, created to nurture the next generation of American dramatists.  Under the guidance of lyricist Lynn Ahrens and composer Stephen Flaherty, the annual nine-month program includes group sessions with theater professionals, and, if possible, one-on-one mentoring, and opportunities to become interns or observers with dramatists involved in professional productions.

The Fund also provides grants to not-for-profit theatrical organizations that produce works by American writers. Approximately $300,000 annually is allocated for these organizational grants each year. In addition, DGF provides grants to professional dramatists experiencing personal hardships such as health-related problems or the temporary loss of income. Recipients of these grants need not be Dramatists Guild members.

The Dramatists Guild Fund recently unveiled its new website – www.dgfund.org -  completed over the summer by the CCR team in partnership with Yellowhawk Creative and CZ Design.
